Myth 1: Does Botox Freeze Your Muscles?

Big false in this one! Botox actually works by relaxing muscles. Botox is injected into specific muscles in the face and causes the muscle to relax , not freeze like it is commonly thought. After a botox treatment , people can feel some tightness in the area and what happens is the skin that is attached to the muscle below reduces its movement . It can sometimes feel a little tight and some people can feel like you’ve worn a rubber swimming cap, this sensation is temporary, a little odd feeling but not uncomfortable . At Sisu Clinic we don’t do the “frozen face look” and like a soft aesthetic that makes people say you look great but they don’t know 

why!

Myth 2: Botox Lasts for 9-12 Months?

Again another False! We often joke about this in the clinics and consider the rewards for the person that can make both last this long! Typically botox will last about 3-4 months . For some people ,especially on their first bottom treatment they can feel that it lasts past this period. We call this “golden tox” and it’s sometimes experienced by people on their first go, the muscle has never had botox and can sometimes be a bit stunned even after the 3 month window has passed . We recommend patients keep the first 3-4 botox cycles around the 3 month mark to condition the muscle and give the best results.

Myth 3: Will My Face Drop if I Stop Getting Botox?

Definitely not! Stopping Botox treatments will allow your lines to return naturally, but there is no exaggerated effect or sudden onset of wrinkles.

Myth 4: Is Botox a Toxin?

The first true on the list! Botox is a drug called “Omnabotulinum Neurotoxin Type A” and causes muscle to relax by blocking the transmission of a neuromodulator called “acetycholine”. Botox is natural found in nature in soil and dirt in the forms of spores. The bottom we use in medicine is made in a laboratory under the highest quality standards. Once it is administered in the hands of a medical professional, it is a very safe product and is one of they most research drugs on the planet in terms of short, intermediate and long term trials.

Myth 5: Will Botox Make Me Look Frozen?
